So this is an Indonesian hot and sweet kind of sauce that I really enjoyed a lot. ABC makes a couple varieties, the Extra Pedas amd Manis Pedas. The Extra Pedas is much hotter than the Manis Pedas, so there's an option for the flame retardants.
This sambal style sauce combine hot chile paste and corn syrup to make an extremely flavorful melange of tastes that mingle with the tastebuds very nicely.
This is actually a very easily found sauce - most any asian grocery should carry it, especially Filipino ones. Uwajimaya in Seattle has it as well as Everett Oriental Grocery on Evergreen Way.
This would be exceptionally good for dipping hot wings in, but I wouldn't recommend the celery and ranch dressing as a companion as that would just taste horrible.
In the instant noodle world, this can be found in many different Indonesian varieties in the Indomie line by Indofoods.
It is uxed in concert with Kecap Manis, a thick, black syrupy oil of a sweet soy sauce, as well as seasoned fat.
Worth picking some of this stuff up - it's really very good and pretty cheap.
